Al-Khutout Al-Jawwiya Al-Kuwaitiyah, which is better known as Kuwait Airways, is the national flag carrier of Kuwait. The headquarter of the airline is at Kuwait International Airport and the airline currently operates domestic as well as international flights to Middle East, to the Indian subcontinent, Europe, Southeast Asia and North America. A member of the Arab Air Carriers Oganisation, Kuwait Airways is completely owned by the government of Kuwait.
Established in the year 1953 by a group of Kuwati businessmen, 50% of the ownership was with the government and management was entrusted to British International Airline for 5 years. The airline commenced its operation on 16th March 1954 with 8,966 passengers on board. The name Kuwait Airways as adopted in the year 1955 and by April 1959 Kuwait Airways took over entire control from British International Airline.
The fleet of Kuwait Airlines comprises 16 Airbus and 2 Boeing aircrafts with an average age of 20 years. The fleet has a Kuwait Airways inspired livery with State of Kuwait titles, and is composed of one Airbus A300-600, one A310-300, one A319, one A320, two A340-500 and one Boeing 747-8BBJ. An order of 36 Airbus and 10 Boeing 777-300Er has been placed, the delivery of which will commence from November 2016 onwards. Kuwait Airways continuously strive to connect the world with its persistent fleet upgrade.

· Kuwait Airways won 9 awards for the innovative services rendered to passengers – Special Kids Meal, Onboard Entertainment, Cabin Crew Proficiency, Uniforms, Onboard Safety, Menu Presentation, Costa Coffee, Onboard Comfort and the Overall Award by Onboard Services Award Magazine, USA
· KAC received 7 awards in January 2003 Onboard Service Awards Magazine, in USA.
Routes and Destinations
The main hub of the airline is at Kuwait International Airport, from where Kuwait Airways flies to 34 international destinations across Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East, as of November 2013. The airline has a codeshare agreement with Air India, Alitalia, Ehtiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Saudia and Turkish Airline.
