Thailand’s national airline, Thai Airways, was formed in 1988 and primarily serves Suvarnabhumi Airport. The carrier operates commercial and chartered flights in Southeast Asia, to international destinations worldwide. Thai Airways is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Among established Asia-Pacific airlines, Thai Airways was the first to serve London Heathrow Airport, and has since built up a strong passenger base in Europe.
How to Check-In
Thai Airways offers internet and mobile check-in options, in addition to the traditional counter check-in method. Choose the former to avoid long queues and prolonged waiting time at the airport. Simply log onto THAI/THAI Smile check-in online stations, and do so from 2 to 24 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure. Mobile and Email Boarding Passes allow travellers access without having to physically print out a copy of your boarding pass. Please review the Mobile Boarding Pass conditions, and ensure the items required are prepared beforehand. Otherwise, head to an airport check-in counter for the traditional method. Travellers taking international flights are expected to arrive for check-in at least 3 hours before departure, while those taking domestic flights should be checking in at least 1 hour before departure.
Different categories have different checked baggage allowances. Travellers on Royal Silk Class have a 30-kilogram limit, while those on Economy Class have a 20-kilogram checked baggage allowance. These restrictions are based on the maximum combined weight of all pieces of baggage, for both domestic and international travel. The Piece Concept only applies to flights to and from the United States and Canada. Overweight luggage will be charged per kilogram, according to the Excess Baggage Charge chart. Additional charge may be incurred in different zones of travel.
Thai Airways operates flights using Airbus and Boeing airplane models that have comfortable seats for a pleasant journey. In Economy Class, standard seats span 17 to 18 inches for seat width, and 32 to 34 inches for seat pitch. Seats in Business Class are slightly wider, and possess recliner, angle lie flat or flat bed functions to ensure passengers travel in maximum comfort. Choose your seats when booking your flight and secure your favourite spot, whether window or aisle seat, and opt to sit together with your family and friends.

There are several inflight services available on Thai Airways. Watch movies, catch up on popular television serials, play games and listen to music to pass time. Flip through the Sawasdee Magazine, read and enjoy undisturbed relaxation on the plane. For children younger than 12 years old, request for a toy from the friendly flight attendants to keep them amused.
Have a tasty meal onboard, and choose from a wide menu of Asian or Western dishes. Should you have particular dietary preferences, contact the THAI flight catering service prior to the flight and place an order for a special meal. Complimentary beverages are also served for travellers in need of refreshments.
