AnadoluJet was founded in 2008 as a low-cost branch to its parent company, Turkish Airlines. Although it only offered domestic flights in its humble beginnings, this trusty little airline has since evolved to serve a large number of international destinations from Turkey, for example Moscow, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Vienna and many more.
How to Check in
To save passengers the hassle of dealing with paper tickets which can easily be misplaced, damaged or accidentally dropped down a toilet, AnadoluJet came up with an ‘e-ticket’ system for certain flight destinations which would dispense with the need for paper to be involved. The process of booking an e-ticket is the same – you do it via their sales offices, dialing the call centre or through the website. After acquiring an e-ticket, you can skip the queues at the check-in counters by using the self check-in kiosks available at certain domestic airports. Simply enter your name, surname and reservation code (PNR) or Electronic Ticket number into the kiosk, drop off your baggage at dedicated bag drops, and head to the gate. Alternatively, e-ticket holders can do their check-in online via the AnadoluJet website 24 hours before departure, print out their boarding passes on their personal computers, and forgo check-in at the airport altogether. Passengers who booked conventional paper tickets also have the option of using the self check-in kiosks or check in online, but will not be able to print their boarding passes at home. Passengers should check in one hour before the scheduled departure time of domestic flights, or two hours before the departure of international flights. Refer to http://www.anadolujet.com/aj-en/ for a list of flight destinations and airports where e-tickets and self check-in are available.
Because AnadoluJet recognises that furry creatures are often as much a part of the family as humans, cats and dogs certified healthy and vaccinated are sometimes permitted to be carried in the cabin in private cages. Fares for Fido are dependent on the weight of the pet in the carrier, and reservations for pet travel have to be made in advance as certain species are not allowed on flights. Pets above a certain weight will have to travel in the cargo compartment. Do check with the AnadoluJet website for more details.
Passengers in Economy Class are allowed around 15kg of check-in baggage, and less than 10kg of carry-on baggage. Extra costs may be incurred if your luggage exceeds these limits. Refer to the AnadoluJet website for exact specifications with regard to your flight.
In flight Services- Perks
AnadoluJet passengers may use Turkish Airlines’ private lounges – called CIP halls – for a small fee, or if they are members of the frequent flyer programme Miles and Smiles. They are also able to redeem and earn miles in this programme with AnadoluJet flights. Furthermore, AnadoluJet passengers enjoy special privileges even on the ground – Turkish airport transfer service ‘Secure Drive’ is available to passengers at a discounted rate at various domestic airports, allowing passengers to travel to and from the airport in comfort. For those who prefer driving themselves, Turkey’s National Car Rental also offers reduced prices to AnadoluJet passengers in certain provinces. (Refer to AnadoluJet website for exact provinces.)
