Cheap flights to the USA

The United States of America – otherwise known as the United States or USA – is a country with 50 states as well as a federal district (Washington D.C.). With a land area of more than 3 million square miles, USA is one of the largest countries in the world by area and by population– with more than 300 million people. It has the world’s largest national economy and is considered a global superpower.

With an extremely large land area, you can find all sorts of climates, landscapes and natural features within the USA – from hot, tropical Florida to cold and icy Alaska; from mountains, volcanoes and forests to lakes, rivers and plains.

What to see and do

If you think about USA, one of the first things that come to mind is Hollywood- you should definitely get yourself to Los Angeles, the City of Angels. Do the Hollywood Walk of Fame on the Sunset Strip, go to Madame Tussauds (wax museum) for a look at wax sculptures of world-famous actors or go to Griffith Park for a selfie with the iconic Hollywood sign.

New York City is probably next on the list of places to visit. The most populous city in the United States, New York is one of the most important hubs of art and culture in the world and the inspiration behind countless songs, movies, poems and more. Watch a breathtaking live show on Broadway, witness the magnificence of the Empire State Building that the legendary King Kong once scaled, feel the never-ending hustle and bustle of Times Square, and of course you cannot miss a photo opportunity with the awe-inspiring Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island!

If you still have time after that, visit the Space Center Houston at NASA Parkway- source of great American pride. It acts as the official visitor centre of the Johnson Space Center, which serves as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s centre for spaceflight activities. Home to numerous historic artefacts of the USA’s outer space activities, you get to check out the cool space gadgets shown in the movies at the space centre. Some of the centre’s offerings include the Apollo 17 command module, the Lunar Rover (a space exploration vehicle that can move across the surface of the moon) and many more. Relive the nation’s great space adventures and tragedies and have an in-depth understanding of what it is like to be an astronaut by partaking in the Space Center’s regular activity, Lunch with an Astronaut.

Getting around

The USA is huge! The best way of covering all that distance without wasting time would be to take domestic flights but be warned- ticket prices aren’t cheap unless reservations are made much earlier ahead. Plan your trip in advance, if not try other forms of land transport such as the national Amtrak network- which is not a lot cheaper but provides a much more scenic journey than a plane- or intercity Greyhound buses- by far the cheapest option!
