Air Asia Airlines
Air Asia, which is actually AirAsia India, is a low-cost Indian airline with its base and hub at Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore and its headquarters in Chennai. AirAsia is a joint venture between Tata Sons and the Malaysian airline AirAsia Berhad (Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace holds the residual 10% stake). The airline is the first foreign airline with an Indian subsidiary, and currently is India’s 4th largest low-cost carrier.
Air Asia has 10 total aircrafts – all of them Airbus A320-200s.
Air Asia Domestic Destinations:
Air Asia flies to 16 domestic destinations – Vizag, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Srinagar, Ranchi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Pune, Imphal, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bagdogra and Kolkata.
Air Asia features only Economy Class on its fleet, each of which seats 180 passengers.
Passengers on AirAsia India flights need a valid national ID to travel.
Air Asia India doesn’t feature inflight entertainment on its domestic flights. However, it features an inflight magazine called Travel 3Sixty for its passengers.

How to Check-in
Travellers can check-in online, via mobile, via self-service kiosks at the airport as well as the AirAsia counters. One can check-in online for AirAsia flight here using their booking number, family name/surname and departure airport. Check in opens 14 days before departure and closes 4 hours before departure for AirAsia X (XT/XJ/D7 flights) and 1 hour before for I5/Z2/PQ/FD/QZ/AK flights. One can check-in via mobile here.
Baggage Allowances and Fees
For domestic flights, the check-in bag allowance is – 15kg/ 20kg/ 25kg/ 30kg/ 40kg depending upon the passenger’s ticket. Also, each bag must not more measure than 81x119x119 cm in total dimensions. See here for details about luggage allowance. Passengers are allowed one cabin bag (plus a laptop bag/handbag or purse/coat etc.) weighing not more than 7kg and measuring not more than 56x36x23 cm.
