Blue Air Airlines

Blue Air is a Romanian low-cost airline with its hub and bases at Turin Airport, Bacău International Airport and Henri Coandă International Airport in Otopeni, 16.5km north of Bucharest. The airline, which has become Romania’s largest airline, has its headquarters in Bucharest. Blue Air began its operations in December 2004, and even has a Frequent Flyer Programme - My Blue.


Blue Air has the following aircrafts as part of its fleet – 2 Boeing 737-300s, 9 Boeing 737-400s, 6 Boeing 737-500s, 1 Boeing 737-700, and 11 Boeing 737-800s – a total of 29 aircrafts.

Blue Air Domestic Destinations:

Blue Air flies to 7 domestic destinations – Bacău, Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Iași, Oradea, and Sibiu.

Blue Air International Destinations:

Blue Air flies to 45 international destinations, which includes countries such as United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Romania, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Germany, France, Cyprus and Belgium.

Available Classes

Blue Air features only Economy Class on its fleet.


Although the documents differ from region to region, passengers need to have their passport and visa at the minimum.

Inflight Service

Blue Air doesn’t feature inflight entertainment. However, it does feature an inflight magazine called Be Blue Air

How to Check-in

Travellers can check in online as well as at the airport. Those who have only carry-ons can directly go to the boarding gate 1 hour before departure. The counters at Henri Coanda International Airport open 3½ hours before departure, closing 40 minutes before the flight departs. Blue Air’s online check-in is available to all flights except those departing from Timisoara, Palma de Mallorca, Lisbon and Constanta. Passengers will need their booking ID, passenger name, and email contact.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Every traveller can carry a maximum of 4 pieces of luggage with them, with maximum dimensions of 100x80x30cm. Check-in baggage fees are different according to the travel duration and the route. See here for baggage charges. Also, each piece cannot weigh more than 32kg. In domestic Romanian flights, the first checked-in bag is free. Cabin bags cannot weigh more than 10kg and measure more than 55x40x20 cm. See here in detail for baggage allowance.


Blue Air has all-Economy seats ranging from 120 to 189 in number across its fleet, and doesn’t charge any fees for seat selection.
