Established in the year 1989, Danish Air Transport is one of the major airlines serving airline in Vamdrup, which is a part of Kolding Municipality in Denmark. Officially known as Danish Air Transport A/S and abbreviated as DAT, the airline currently operates scheduled and chartered passenger and cargo flights all over the world. The airline started as just a cargo airline in 1989 and chartered flights began operating in 1994. Schedule services were launched on 18 November 1996.. at present the airline operates direct flights to Billund Airport, Bornholm Airport, Kastrup Airport, Esbjerg Airport, Karup Airport, Odense Airport, Tegel Airport, Dublin Airport, Naples Airport,  Vilnius International Airport, Oslo Airport, Stavanger Airport and Stord Airport. As of December 2014, the flle of Danish Air Transport included 4 Airbus A320-200, 6 ATR 42-300, 3 ATR 42-500, 7 ATR 72-200 and 2 MD-80.

The airline was founded by Jesper and Kirsten Rungholm in 1989 when they had only a Short Skyvan SC-7. Starting as a cargo company the airline has been growing significantly. How to Check-in

Online check-in is available for passengers travelling with Danish Air Transport. Online check-in opens 30 hours prior to departure and can be done from the comfort of your home or office. Passengers can print their boarding pass and those with only had luggage can more directly to the departure hall. This service is free and is the most convenient way to check-in. Those option for counter check-in should note that counter generally closes 45 minutes before departure of international flights and 30 minutes before schedule departure of domestic flight. Make sure that you calculate extra time at the check-in desks during weekends and holidays.

Baggage and Allowance

Passengers are generally allowed to carry one piece of maximum 23 kg of baggage. Please note that even if you pay for excess luggage, passengers are not allowed to carry a bag which weighs more than 32 kg. As cabin luggage the limit is between 5 kg to 7 kg. The baggage limit may increase on decrease depending upon the class of travel, destination of travel and the kind of membership you hold with the airline. In case of excess baggage, Danish Air Transport DKK 40 per kg while for an extra piece of baggage which weighs 23 kg, the charge is DKK 300. Children below 2 years have a hold baggage allowance of 5 kg excluding seats, buggies and prams. Remember to ensure that your hand baggage is free of items which are not permitted on board, to avoid last minute confusion at the airport.


During online check-in which can be done 30 hours prior to departure, passengers can also avail the option of pre booking of seat. Booking a window seat is advisable if you are interested in enjoying wondrous views during landing or takeoff. While sets can be pre-selected online, but the airline levies a small surcharge for the same which can be paid online. At the airport, during counter check-in, airlines do not guarantee seats of choice, as seats are subject to availability. In case of any medical condition, you can call up the airline immediately after booking your ticket and reserve your seat, without any surcharge and most of the time the airline acknowledge the request of the passengers.
