Jetstar Asia Flights

Jetstar Asia Airways Pte Ltd, which currently operates under the name Jetstar Asia, is a popular low cost airline in Singapore. This is a subsidiary airline of Australia's Qantas airline and is the main feeder airline for its parent company Jetstar Airways. Singapore Changi Airport is the major hub for the airline and the headquarters of the airline is also located here.  The airline operates to regional destinations in South East Asia along with regular flights to Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The airline was launched in the year 2004, the current fleet of the airline comprises of 18 Airbus A320-200 that flies to 21 destinations across the world. Qantas Frequent Flyer is the Frequent-flyer program operated by Jetsar Airways.

The airline came into existence after the merger of Qantas and Singaporean businessman Tony Chew, FF Wong and Singaporean government that holds 49%, 22%, 10% and 19% stakes of the airline, respectively. Hong Kong, Taeipi, Manila, Jakarta, Shanghai and Pattaya were destinations which have been serviceable by the airline since its inception. The airline merged with Valuair, which is another airline based out of Singapore, on 24 July 2005. Both the airlines continued to operate on their regular route. On 26 October 2014, Valuair was dissolved and its flights were taken over by Jetstar Asia. The airline has codeshare agreement with Emirates, Qantas and SriLankan Airlines.

How to Check-in

Multiple options of check-in are available for passengers travelling with Jetstar Asia. Web check-in is available from 48 hours up till 60 minutes before departure of the flight and this time cap varies as per the route of travel. Jetstar Asia also has many self-service kiosks at the Changi Airport Singapore where passengers can check-in. Counter check-in is also available for Jetstar Asia passengers and counter opens 3 hours before departure of international flights and 2 hours before schedule departure of domestic flight. All Passengers on international flights and domestic flights departing international terminals need to carry their passport and other travel documents.

Baggage Allowance and Fees

Since Jetstar Asia is a low cost airline, it does not offer free checked baggage in order to keep the price of the ticket under check. Interested passengers can pre book their luggage online during the booking of their ticket or online check-in. The cost of I piece of baggage not weighing more than 23 kg in weight in $40. For passengers travelling in economy class the carry-on baggage limit is 1 bag not exceeding 7 kg in weight and 56 cm x36cm x23 cm in dimension. Business class passengers can carry 2 bags not exceeding 7 kg each.


Seats can be pre booked during the online check-in, for a fee. However please be aware that paid seat requests are non-transferable and nonrefundable. Passengers can also place a request for their preferred seat at the counter check-in but airline do not guarantee them as they are subject to availability. While booking your seat online is the best way to assure the seat of your choice, passengers who do not wish to pay anything extra for their seats should arrive at the airport early, if they want the seat of their choice. Always book the window seat, if you want to enjoy great views during landing or takeoff.
