Previously known as Mongolian Airlines since its initial inauguration in 2011, the carrier has effectively rebranded itself as Hunnu Air as of 2013. Starting off as a small fleet serving domestic destinations, Hunnu Air has since increased its routes to include international destinations such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Hong Kong and most recently, even Paris. Charter flights are also available at certain times of the year to destinations such as Jeju and Sanya. Hunnu Air operates from its home base at Chinggis Khaan International Airport with a humble fleet comprising a handful of top-notch airbuses serving international routes and smaller Fokker aircraft mainly used for domestic flights. The airline also boasts its own frequent flyer programme, identified as the Hunnu Club, allowing loyal customers exclusive access to a range of benefits offered by the airline, including the accumulation of flying miles.
How to Check In
Hunnu Air does not offer the option of checking in online, so all procedures have to be carried out conventionally at the airline counters located in the respective airports. Do make sure to arrive at the check-in counters at least 2 hours before the departure timing of your scheduled flights, or risk being denied entry on board your designated flight.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Complimentary baggage allowance is offered for all passengers regardless of travel classes. In terms of check-in baggage, passengers with economy class tickets are entitled to a maximum weight of 20kg when travelling out of the country; and a maximum weight of 10kg when travelling within the country. On the other hand, business class passengers are granted a maximum weight of 30kg when travelling to international destinations served by Hunnu Air. Each passenger is also entitled to one piece of cabin baggage each, which must be able to fit under the seats in front of you or in the overhead compartments. The weight for each piece of cabin baggage should not exceed 5kg, and should not contain restricted items such as flammable goods or sharp objects which will be denied entry on board. Do note that the airline also adheres to a restriction placed on bringing liquids over a certain amount on board. Excess baggage including special items such as bicycles and live animals will result in a corresponding fee depending on which destination you are headed for. Do note that all domestic flights will observe a 15kg limit on all excess baggage, and any deviation must come with proof of prior notification and confirmation.
