Virgin America is an American carrier with headquarters in San Francisco. The airline’s mission is to offer low-fare, high quality service, just like its other global Virgin counterparts. The Alaska Air Group bought the airlines in 2016 making it a sister carrier of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. With the buyout by the Alaska Air Group, Virgin America has turned profits and grown in terms of personnel employed and passengers flown. Virgin America’s major hubs are San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

Virgin America has signed a code share agreement with Alaska Airlines, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin Australia.


The Virgin America fleet consists of 10 Airbus A319-100s, 53 Airbus A320-200s, 2 Airbus 321NEOs. In a move to expand Virgin America has ordered for 8 Airbus 321NEOs and 30 Airbus A320NEOs.

Virgin America currently operates scheduled flights to Cancun, San Jose Del Cabo, Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.

Virgin America offers food in-flight at an added cost to all Main Cabin class passengers. Complementary meals are available to all Main Cabin Select Class and First Class passengers.

Passengers will be asked for the ticket number or Confirmation code, which can be found on the ticket and passenger’s last name.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

1pc carry-on baggage should be smaller than 25x40x60cms and less than 15kg. Checked baggage has to be less than 157cms (depth + length + width) and less than 22.5kg. First class passengers are allowed 2pc checked baggage, Main Cabin Select passengers are allowed 1pc checked baggage and Main Cabin passengers are allowed only 1pc Carry-on baggage.
