Al Ain International Airport – Abu Dhabi’s Second Largest Airport
A major airport in United Aram Emirates, Al Ain International Airport is the 5th busiest airport in UAE and 2nd largest airport in Abu Dhabi after Abu Dhabi International Airport. A public airport operated by Abu Dhabi Airports Company, it is located at a distance of 15 km west north west of Al Ain city. The airport is at an elevation of 264 meters above mean sea level and has a single asphalt runway measuring 4,000 meters in length. The airport has one terminal with 4 gates along with 4,000 meters long taxiway and 10 check-in counters. Currently only 3 airlines operate to and from the Al Ain International Airport.
The airport was inaugurated on 31st March 1991 and has been serving the people of United Arab Emirates with excellent facilities and world class passenger services. This is small airport which is used by only three airline operators which currently function around 14 flights in a day and the passenger movement is recorded at 4,000 every week. The government has planned for a major round of expansion which will equip the airport with expanded check-in and departure areas, cargo terminal, addition of hi-tech airline in-flight catering facility, facilities for improved ramp operations and addition of a bonded warehouse.
Air India Express, Shaheen Air and Rotana Jet are the airlines that operate regular passenger services to and from the Al Ain International Airport. While Ukraine International Airlines operate charter flights from the Al Ain International Airport, Midex Airline operates cargo service from the airport to Baku, Bangkok, Colombo, Chennai, Karachi, Lahore, Manila and Prague.
This is very young airport in the country and in spite of offering decent services and facilities to the passengers, till now it has not received any award, whatsoever. The airport will soon be undergoing a major expansion plan which will help it to become of the big airports in UAE.

The Al Ain International Airport is directly connected to Kozhikode, Peshawar, Abu Dhabi, Goa and Kiev. Once the airport terminal is expanded and new facilities come up, the number of airline operating from the Al Ain International Airport will also increase.
