Casablanca Mohamed V Airport which is also known as Mohammed V International Airport is the primary airport serving Casablanca in Morocco. A part of Nouaceur Province in Casablance, the airport is hub for the country's flag carrier Royal Air Maroc, Jetairfly, along with Air Arabia Maroc and RAM Express. A public airport operated by ONDA, the airport is at an elevation of 200 meters above sea level and currently has 2 asphalt runways measuring 3,720 each. In the year 2013, the airport handled 918,238 passengers, making Mohammed V International Airport, the busiest airport in Morocco. It is also known as Matar Muhammad al-Khamis ad-Dowaly. The airport is around 30 km from the city center. The airport has 3 terminals of which Terminal One is undergoing renovation and the Terminal Third is very small and not used very often.


The airport was built by the United States as an auxiliary airfield for Casablanca's Anfa Airport during the Second World War in 1943. It was then called Berrechid Airfield and was used only for military purposes. The airport was handed over to the civil government but no operations were conducted. The airport was renamed as Nouasseur Air Base and was used extensively by the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Cold way in early 1950's. After the destabilization of the French Government in the city and independence of Morocco in 1956, the government took control of the airport and by 1963 all the SAC bases of US Air Force was fully out. One of the terminals at the airport is undergoing expansion and will be operational from 2016.
