20 miles from the Central Business District of Denver city, in the State of Colorado, lays Denver International (DEN) airport. The bridge crossing the airport field is a unique feature that attracts individuals to this airport. Denver is a young airport, but the largest in the United States of America, and the 15th busiest worldwide. It serves as a domestic and International airport.

It is the main base of Frontier and Great Lakes airlines. Denver International airport serves United and Southwest airlines as a secondary hub. History

The Denver International airport construction plans came into place as early as 1880 by the Denver Regional Council of Governments. This airport was to replace Stapleton International Airport. Pena former Mayor of Denver set $60 million dollars aside for the project in 1989. Poor planning, frequent strikes, and United Airlines demands delayed the completion and opening of the Airport to 1995.

On February 25 1995, the first flight left the Denver international airport to Kansas City International Airport and the first flight to land in the same airport was from Colorado Springs Airport. The airport gives space for expansion since the land it lies on is large enough. The runways are also extra large and the towers have allowance for expansion. The airports’ airlines fly to several destinations worldwide. Some of the destinations are code shared while others are seasonal.
