History

In 1961, two cities of Dallas and Fort Worth came up with an idea to have a joint airport. This was because the airport in Dallas, (Dallas love Field Airport) could not cope with the rising demand. In 1966, the two cities contributed money to purchase land. After land purchase in 1966, construction began in 1969. Construction of the airport was over in 1973. During the completion ceremony that year, the supersonic Concorde landed in the airport for the first time in the United States of America.

2011- Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) inducted Vice President of Energy and Transportation intoEnergy Managers Hall of Fame.
