Serving the capital and largest city of Cameroon's Littoral Region – Douala, the Douala International Airport is a major airport in the country. Located at a distance of 10 km from the city center is also the busiest airport in Cameroon. The Douala International Airport is a joint civil and military airport that is operated by Aéroports du Cameroun and serves as hub for Camair-Co. At an elevation of 10 meter above sea level, the airport currently has a single asphalt runway which measures 2,853 meters. The airport serves as the main entering point of the country.

How to Check-in

Multiple options of check-in are available for passengers travelling from the Douala International Airport. Most of the airlines offer the option of web check-in and mobile check-in which can be done from the convenience of your home. This option is generally available 24 hours till 1 hour prior to the departure time of the flight and once checked-in passengers can get their boarding pass printed. Counter check-in option is also available and generally passengers travelling to international sector should check in 3 hours prior to schedule departure and those travelling within the country can report 90 minutes before departure of their flight.  However, this is a very crowded airport, hence passengers are advised to reach the airport minimum 3 hours before departure of the flight to avoid long queues. The airport police authority does a thorough check-up so passengers should be prepared for it. Arriving passengers at the Douala International Airport needs to show their visa along with various documents, before leaving the airport.

Baggage Allowance

Every airline flying from the Douala International Airport has its own policy regarding baggage and it can differ from one airline to the other. Hence, passengers are requested to speak to their airline regarding the details of what and how much to carry on their flight. Usually passengers can check-in luggage weighting between 20 kg to 32 kg and can carry hand baggage between 7 kg to 12 kg. Please note that the baggage allowance is allotted based on the class as well as sector of travel but in any case a baggage exceeds 32 kg is may not be acceptable by the airlines. Penalty has to be paid in case of excess luggage and the charges can be paid at the airport itself.


Pre selection of your preferred seat is allowed by most of the airline flying to and from Douala International Airport. Passengers can do so during online check-in, 24 hours prior to their departure and a small fee is levied. At the airport seats are allotted on first come first serve basis and passengers can request for their choice of seat during the counter check-in process. However, seats are subject to availability. Another option, which does not attract any surcharge, is by booking your ticket at the airline’s counter at the airport or by booking your flight ticket from the airline’s authorized office which is located in your city. Please note that in case of cancellation or modification, extra charges are applicable and you should speak to your airline regarding the same. Also the charges for making an online flight reservation may vary from one flight to the other so speak to the airline to gain clarity on the same.
