Kharkov Airport (HRK) – Enjoy a Splendid Break in Ukraine
An important airport in Ukraine, Kharkov International Airport is located in the city of Kharkiv, which is the second largest city in the country. A public airport operated by "New Systems AM" LLC, the airport is hub for Ukraine International Airlines and Windrose Airlines. The airport is at an elevation of 155 meters above sea level and currently has a single concrete runway measuring 2,500 meters in length. The airport is located within the city limits, in Kominternivskyi district of Kharkiv. In the year 2014, the airport reported 437,500 passenger movements. This is not a very big airport and has received the international status only recently. The airport has 2 terminals – an international terminal and a VIP terminal and operates CATII instrument landing system. Belgorod airport at a distance of 82 km, Dnepropetrovsk airport around 195 km and Kursk airport which is around 202 km from Khanrkiv are the nearest airports.
The airport has been operational for more than 6 decades now and the first terminal was opened in 1950s by Joseph Stalin in his socialist neo-classical style. The airport was renovated an upgraded in order to comply with the UEFA regulation as Ukraine and Poland were awarded to host the UEFA European Championship in 2012.
Currently AtlasGlobal UA, Dniproavia, Ellinair, Pegasus Airlines, UM Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, UTair Ukraine and Windrose Airlines operate regular as well as season passenger flights to and from the Kharkov International Airport.
This is a small airport in Ukraine and offer basic facilities to the passengers. Since it does not offer high end services and luxurious facilities, it has not received any award till date.
Routes and Destinations
At present, Istanbul, Ivano, Thessaloniki, Amman, Baghdad, Beirut, Kiev, Odessa, Tel Aviv, Antalya, Larnaca, Sharm el-Sheikh and Tivat are the only destinations which are directly connected to the Kharkov International Airport.

How to Check-in
Option of online check-in is available with some of the airline operating from the Kharkiv International Airport. Please ask your airline beforehand if they provide options of web check-in to avoid any last minute confusion. If available, online check-in in generally available from 4 hours up till 2 hours before departure of flight. Passengers can print their boarding pass and head straight to the security check counter at the airport. For the assistance of passengers, many check-in desks are also available at the Kharkiv International Airport. Passengers are advised to report 2 hour when travelling international and 1 hours prior to departure of domestic flight. Please note that the determination of baggage allowance also depends upon the class of travel, destination you are travelling to and also on the type of airline (regular or low cost or charter) that you are flying with. In any case, charges are applicable if you are travelling with excess luggage and the same can be paid at the airport. At the Kharkov airport, facility of luggage storage is available the left wing of the terminal A and a small fee is charges for its usage.

Pre selection of seat can be done online during web check-in process and though this service is chargeable, it is the best way to assure your choice of the seat on eh place. For passengers travelling with airlines which do not have options of online booking should arrive at eh airport early and make a request for your preferred seat during counter check-on process. However, as seats are subject to availability, airlines do not guarantee them during counter check-in.
