Lights, Camera, Action! As Hollywood’s closest gateway, visitors hoping to catch sight of their favourite movie stars should fly to Los Angeles International Airport. The airport has been featured internationally via popular media as well, and glimpses of its interiors can be caught on films like Catch Me If You Can and Rush Hour. Los Angeles Airport is the main gateway of the city, and sits 16km away from downtown LA. As an international platform to destinations in all inhabitable continents, Los Angeles Airport serves as one of the world’s busiest airports and a strategic gateway. It is also home to operations of leading local airlines such as United, American and Southwest.
As one of the world’s major gateways, Los Angeles Airport has up to nine terminals serving passengers from all around the globe. Terminal 1 is the largest of all at the airport, and caters exclusively to the operations of Southwest Airlines. Other exclusive terminals include Terminal 4 for American Airlines, Terminal 5 for Northwest and Delta, and Terminal 7 and 8 for United Airlines.
Other notable terminals include the Tom Bradley International Terminal which serves many foreign airlines due to its ability to receive larger aircraft like the Airbus A380. Korean Air, Emirates Airlines and British Airways. Foreign airlines not located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal can be found in Terminals 2 and 3.
With so many terminals, connecting between terminals may prove confusing. Certain terminals like 6, 7, and 8 are close enough to walk through, but the airport has also established a complimentary shuttle service named LAX Shuttle for passengers to get across far reaching terminals. Two routes are available; with route A bringing you around all seven terminals frequently throughout the day and night. Passengers may also hop on route C to get to the parking lot any time of the day. To utilise this service, please make your way to the front of the terminal and keep a lookout for the LAX Shuttle sign.
Services and Facilities
Needless to say, with the airport’s grand magnitude comes an endless selection of amenities for passengers to indulge in as well. The exclusivity of terminals dedicated to prominent airlines entails lounges catering for passengers flying with the selected airlines. At the airport, passengers may also conveniently locate the necessary amenities, such as medical aid, lost and found services, ATM machines and banking facilities, and postal services to name a few. The airport also boasts a decent collection of exhibits found throughout the terminals for a time of entertainment and enrichment. A myriad of retail and dining options are available across all terminals as well, where passengers can grab anything from Starbucks coffee to readily packed sushi, a memorable souvenir or the latest Hermes bag.
