A major airport serving the Balearic island of Minorca in Spain, the Menorca Airport is 4.5 km from the city of Mahon. Lying within the city limit of Mahón and Sant Lluís, this is a main tourist airport that serves regular as well as charter flights to domestic as well as international destinations. The Menorca Airport is a public airport operated by Aena. It is at an elevation of 92 meters above sea level and currently has 2 asphalt runways measuring 2,100 meters and 2,550 meters. In the year 014, the airport handled 2,632,615 passengers and recorded 24,716 aircraft movements. This one of the most beautiful airport in Spain and at present has 1 main terminal linked with jetway via 16 gates. The Menorca Airport was built to replace the existing San Luis Airport and was officially inaugurated on 24 March 1969. The airport suffered a roof collapse on 14th September 2006 at the site of the construction of the new terminal and as a result 20 men were trapped and 3 were gravely injured. By the beginning of 2008, the reconstruction of the new terminal was started.
