Muscat International Airport (Seeb International Airport)

Muscat International Airport, also known as Seeb International Airport is located 32 km west of Muscat city, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The airport is operated by Oman Airports Management Company and is the biggest airport in Oman. It is well connected to different parts of the world via regular flights and is the busiest airport in the country.


The airport was established in December 23rd, 1973. Since its inception, it has witnessed an amazing growth in terms of services and passenger traffic. As per the data recorded in 2013, the airport handled 8.3 million passengers with 81,244 total aircraft movements. The airport serves as the major hub for the national carrier Oman Air. It acts as an international gateway to Oman, connecting to major destinations around the globe. Direct flights from India and different other countries regularly fly to and fro to the airport giving an access to travelers into the country. Emirates, Qatar Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Oman Air, Air India, Kuwait Airways, Gulf Air, Flydubai are some of the prime airlines that flies to Muscat.


At present, the airport features a single passenger terminal and a cargo terminal. A new terminal building comprising of 32 boarding air bridges and an additional runway along with a control tower is underway, which is expected to complete by the end of 2014. The new terminal will have an annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers. The current terminal building has arrivals and departures facilities along with other services such as duty free shopping and a VIP building. There are a total 58 check-in counters, 16 immigration counters, 3 electronic arrivals & departures gates, 17 boarding gates and 9 transfer desks at the airport.
