The Ningbo Lishe International Airport which is simply known as Ningbo Airport, serves the city of Ningbo, which is a major city in the Yangtze River Delta region and the second largest city in Zhejiang Province, China. Operated by the Ningbo Lishe International Airport Co. Ltd, the airport currently has a single concrete runway which measures 3,200 meters. The airport is at elevation of 4 meter above mean sea level. In the year 2012, the airport was declared to be the 29th busiest airport in China in cargo traffic. The airport handled 5.4 million passengers in 2013, making it the 36th busiest airport in China in terms of passenger traffic. It is among the fastest growing airport in China as suggested by the annual growth rate of 17.8% in passenger traffic and 19.8% for cargo traffic. The Ningbo International Airport serves a base for the Great Wall Airlines.
Civil services at the Ningbo Lishe International Airport began on 16th November, 1984 and the CAAC Antonov AN-24 was the first ever flight to land at the then military airport. The airport was then known as Ningbo Zhuangqiao Airport. The construction of the present airport began 1985 after Central Government of China gave its approval. The airport which was built at the cost of RMB 126 million was officially inaugurated on 30 June 1990 to become the first civil-only airport in Zhejiang. International services from the airport began in 1992 and on 29 November 2005 the airport was renamed as Ningbo Lishe International Airport from Ningbo Lishe Airport.
Air China, Air Macau, Beijing Capital Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Donghai Airlines, Hong Kong Express Airways, Lucky Air, Mandarin Airlines, Okay Airways, Sichuan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and West Air (China) are the major airline operators that function regular as well as season and chartered flights services to and from the Ningbo Lishe International Airport. Hong Kong Airlines Cargo also operates to and from the airport.
While the Ningbo Lishe International Airport is one of the most important airports in the region and offers some of the most advanced services and state-of-the-art facilities, till now it has not got any award.
