Novosibirsk International Airport (OVB) – Siberia’s Busiest Airport
Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, simply known as Novosibirsk Airport is located in the town of Ob in Siberia, at a distance of around 16 km from the industrial town of Novosibirsk. Located in 3rd largest city of Russia, Siberia, the airport is operated by an Open Joint Stock Company. The airport serves as hub for Globus Airlines, NordStar and S7 Airlines. At an elevation of 111 meters above sea level, the airport has 1 asphalt runway measuring 3,600 meters and a reinforced concrete runway which measures 3,605 meters in length. The airport managed 3,957,667 passengers and 29,947 tons of cargo in the year 2014, making it the busiest airport in Siberia and 6th busiest airport in Russia. The location of the airport between important East Asia cities and Europe, makes this airport an important fueling stop for cargo airlines. The airport currently has a single passenger terminal with two connected sections, 2 cargo terminals and 61 aircraft stands.
The first ever flights took off from the Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport on 12th July, 1957 from Novosibirsk to Moscow. The airport was owned by United Tolmachevo Aviation Enterprise and Ministry of Civil Aviation of USSR until 1992. It became a joint stock company in 1995 and 51% of the shares are now owned by the state. The airport was renovated in 2006 and the domestic terminal was completely renewed. The airport became the first Russian airport to receive ISO 9002-96 certificate. From 2014-2015, the airport underwent another round of expansion and the international terminal was merged with the domestic terminal, thus doubling the passenger handling capacity. Plans for adding a new rapid-exit taxiway and 4 stands for wide-body aircraft is also under proposition.
Aeroflot, Air Astana, Angara Airlines, Center-South, flydubai, Georgian Airways, IrAero, KrasAvia, NordStar, Pegasus Airlines, S7 Airlines, Tajik Air, Ural Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways and Yakutia Airlines are some of the many airlines that operate scheduled passenger flights to and from the airport. AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Air China Cargo, Cargolux, Polet Airlines, Transaero Airlines, Yakutia Airlines and Yangtze River Express operate cargo flights to and from the Novosibirsk Airport
The Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport was nominated for World Routes Awards in the category ‘The Best Airport of CIS 2012’ but did not win the award. Though this is one of the major airports in Siberia, it has still not received any awards.

Online option of check-in is offered by most of the airlines operating from Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport. Passengers can print their boarding pass after checking-in online within 24 hours before departure.
