Visit Great Wall Of China Via Shenzhen International Airport (SZX)
The Shenzhen International Airport, also known as Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is located near the Fuyong and Huangtian villages in the Bao’an district of Guangdong province in China. The airport is located about 32 km away from the city center.
This airport has turned into a hub for the Shenzhen Airlines and also the cargo airlines of SF Airlines and Shenzhen Donghai Airlines. It is also a focus for the Hainan Airlines, as well as, China Southern Airlines. It serves as a cargo hub for the UPS Airlines.
Massive expansions were underway which saw the construction of a new terminal, as well as, a second runway. Although this airport offers a very high connectivity, the major disadvantage faced by the international travelers is the fact that the quality of English used here is very poor. Hence, it hinders communication, which in turn leads to several problems.
The Shenzhen International Airport (SZX) covers an area of approximately 10.8 sq. km. Opened back in the year 199 on October 12. The original runway had a length of 3400 m and a width of 45 m, with 53 parking spaces. When the airport first opened, it only handled about 5 services in a single day. However, the number of people using the airport increased rapidly, and hence, they had to expand it. This led to the construction of the second domestic terminal.
In 2010 alone the Shenzhen International Airport saw a foot fall of 26,713,610 passengers. This made it the 5th busiest airport in China in terms of number of passengers. It also went on to become the 4th busiest airport in China in terms of cargo traffic and 24th busiest in the world.
In 2008 construction of a new terminal commenced at the airport, which was located right in between the new runway and the original one. It was completed after 4 years and was opened to passengers in the year 2013.
The new terminal that was constructed at the airport covers an area of 450,000 sq. mt, with 62 boarding gates which are capable of accommodating just about every single type of aircraft there is.
There are terminals from A to H, which have 192 check-in counters in all. The terminals D and E are specifically for those flights which take the passengers to Macao or any other international destinations.
Shenzhen International Airport in China has been named the 6th best international airport in the entire region of China. This is true for not just the international flights but also for the domestic ones as well.
The facilities that are being provided by this airport have increased. The number of aircrafts that ply through the airport have also increased, also the number of passengers that make use of the services provided by this airport too have increased. However, the airport doesn’t seem to have won many awards, apart from being named the 6th best in China.
Routes And Destinations
The aircrafts which fly in through the airport, help connect China to a number of places within the continent of Asia. The international destinations are not that well connected with this airport.
Some of the most important airlines that ply through here include China United Airlines, Korean Air, Shanghai Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Silk Air, Air China, China Southern Airlines and several more besides these.
Why Fly Through This Airport?
How To Check In?
Checking in at the Shenzhen International Airport is same as checking into any other airport in the world. There are several check-in counters available at the airport and one can head to that counter that represents the airline in which they wish to travel and check in.
The baggage has to be checked in as well. These are then tagged in a manner where it will be easier to identify and will reach the destination that the passenger is heading to.
Baggage And Allowance
Every single airline that the customer makes use of allows them to carry baggage along. However, the quantity of baggage that is allowed varies from one airline to another. You will need to check with the airline to know about the highest permissible limit that is allowed by them. If the baggage being carried is found to be more than what is allowed, then an extra charge is to be paid for the same accordingly.
The seat that the passenger wished to sit in can be chosen either online when they reserve a ticket, or at the counter in the airport when they buy a ticket there. The numbers of seats that are found in the international airplanes are much higher than those found in the domestic airlines.
The booking fee of the seats in the airplanes depends on the airlines. So check out the booking fee being charged before reserving a seat.
