TASHKENT International Airport- Best among the Rest


TAS is an international airport situated in Uzbekistan and is one of the airport in Central Asia.  Among the eleven airports of Uzbekistan Tashkent airport is the largest of them all. The airport is located within the radius of 12 km of the center of Tashkent.  The government of Uzbekistan is the owner of Tashkent International Airport. It is the main hub for Uzbekistan airways. The airport consists of 2 Terminals. Terminal 3 serves domestic flights while Terminal 2 serves international flights. Facilities like Currency exchange offices, Restaurants, bars, airline ticket counters, sales offices (import and export), comfortable waiting lounges, comfortable VIP halls, conference halls and Duty free shops are available within the airport. Baggage wrapping and baggage storage counters are also available. It has Internet Wi-Fi facilities all over the terminal. The airport is always ready 24X7 for any medical emergencies. A playground for children creates an aura of cleanliness and friendliness around the area. The government of Uzbekistan has planned to move the airport to a better site by 2029. On the 3rd floor there are offices of various airlines like British airways, Aeroflot etc. The security checks are very strict and therefore take a long time to enter the terminal.



On 17 June 1995, Aircraft An-2R crashed 40 km away from the airport under unknown circumstances. On 26 August 1999, aircraft Yak-40 got stuck in power lines while taking second go around. In 2004, an aircraft landed 250 meters ahead of the runway hitting a concrete building and then catching fire. In 2006, Aircraft An-2TP got crashed due to bad weather condition with no casualties. In 2009, aircraft An24 RV experienced an improper takeoff which led to premature retraction.  

Tashkent airport meets all the requirements of an international airport which are set by ICAO and is received by all types of aircrafts.

Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 were built in 2001 and 2011 respectively. Terminal 2 is under renovation near the departure area so as to remove congestion in that area. The airport is still in its development phase but still can operate at the maximum capacity.




The airport has a total of thirty four various fleets.

It has ten Airbus A320-200, six Boeing 757-200, seven Boeing 767-300ER, seven Ilyushin II-114-100, two Airbus A300-600F, two Boeing 767-300F.

It is the largest international airport of Uzbekistan. It has been awarded with the best airport of Russia in 2014. Also it was awarded with the best regional airport in Russia 2014.

How to check in

Main ticket office is situated at Terminal 1. Flight tickets can also be booked through registered ticketing agents. Among them some provide free ticket delivery.

International passengers must reach the airport two and half hours before the scheduled departure of their flight as it will prevent them from standing in long queue as it takes some time for customs and immigration formalities.

Pick up and drop charges to Tashkent airport is $15.


Baggage and allowance

For first class traveler free baggage allowance is 45 kg for each passenger. Similarly, for Business class and Economy class it is 35 kg and 25 kg per person respectively. In case of delay in Baggage delivery, the passenger must inform the Lost and Found as soon as the baggage delivery for your airline offsets. According to the passenger’s feedback, it has been notified that the staff at the Tashkent airport is a bit rude in their voice especially during the baggage checking. It would be convenient to stay calm and listen to them as their tone is like that only.




Terminal 2 has a capacity to serve a thousand passengers per hour, and offer its facilities to over 2,000000 passengers a year. Terminal 3 has the capacity to serve 400 travelers per hour.
