Toronto Pearson International Airport serves the country’s most populous city of Toronto and sits 22.5km away from the city centre. This international gateway is also recognised by other titles, including Lester B. Pearson International Airport which was christened after one of Canada’s most influential Prime Ministers who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957. From its humble origins initiated off farmlands, the airport has undergone gradual developments and upgrades to its top-notch stature today. Today, Toronto Pearson Airport enjoys the highest air passenger traffic in the whole of Canada, and is one of the busiest airports in the region.
Toronto Pearson Airport comprises two main terminals used to serve passengers flying in and out of the city. Terminal 1 mostly houses international carriers from around the world who possess affiliation with Star Alliance, as well as the operations of Air Canada. As one of the largest terminals in the world, Terminal 1 is capable of hosting a large number of flights and passengers given its ample facilities.
The other terminal at the airport is the stylishly designed Terminal 3, serving members of SkyTeam and Oneworld alliances across carriers, as well as airlines without any alliances. Both terminals manage flights to domestic, regional and international destinations.
Passengers can get around the airport’s premises conveniently with the Terminal link, a complimentary train service provided by the airport which will take you across terminals and more. Running 24 hours a day and up to 15 times per hour, passengers looking to make domestic or international connections can simply head down to the terminal link station from whichever terminal they are located at and hop on the next train out. With a recent addition of one more car, the Terminal Link is now capable of ferrying even more passengers around, making sure you catch your flights in time. The Transport Link is also disabled-friendly, and allows wheelchairs on board its carriages.
Services and Facilities
The airport is home to numerous lounges operated by both airline alliances and specific airlines themselves. Passengers can also gain access to certain lounges such as the Plaza Premium Lounge with a small fee, and enjoy unlimited refreshments and valuable tranquility away from the ongoing hustles and bustles around the airport.
Complimentary WiFi access can be found throughout the airport courtesy of Toronto Pearson Airport, allowing passengers to stay connected with the loved ones back home. Also, the airport provides other general amenities such as interfaith centres for those in need of a quiet time, baggage and coat-storing facilities, and various different exhibitions scattered around the airport’s premises. Shopping and dining options are also in abundance within the airport; where visitors can even get an express manicure, marvel at exquisite Swarovski displays, or grab a hot snack to go.
