 Zagreb International Airport

Zagreb International Airport(ZAG): Experience the Serenity and Calmness with every Flight.

Zagreb International Airport performs the dual function. One being a public airport type and other, serving as a military base as well. The airport is also known as Pleso Airport, named after the nearby suburb of Pleso. It is the main international airport of Croatia and the base of Croatian Air Force and Air Defence. Hence, both the public transport and Military fleets depend on the Zagreb international airport.

This airport is located 10 km or 6.2 mi from Zagreb Central Station. It serves Zagreb and is the hub for Croatia Airlines, Trade Air and Air Croatia. This provides the air corridor between the destinations.

History

Originally, the airfield was built as defence centre in the year 1990 near the neighbourhood of Črnomerec.

It was in the year 1928 when the Boroganj Airfield began serving its passenger traffic on 15 February. Since then it has been serving both the civilians and the military personnel.

Albeit, over years it went through changes and modifications. In the year 2008 VIP terminals were added and extra amenities, restaurants and bars too. Terminal expanded to 15,500 m2. The passenger terminal underwent major design upgrade, and new unified facade at the front of the terminal was added. Along with these upgrades, construction of new terminal also started in the year 2013 on 18 December and is still under construction. Tentative date for its completion is 2016.

With all these modifications. And improvisations the airport serves its best to its passengers.

Fleet

As already mentioned, the airport serves both the public and military. Consequently, one may find a passenger flight and a fighter flying over the same sky.

Serving both the purposes can be sometimes hectic but Zagreb International works around the clock to uphold its dignity and provided its customers an experience full of amazement.
