About Paphos

Paphos International Airport is the country’s second biggest airport, after Larnaca International Airport. It is situated in Paphos, Cyprus, and mainly serves the area. The airport is frequented by tourists venturing into western Cyprus, to popular places of interest like Coral Bay, Limassol and Paphos itself. Over 30 airlines fly to the gates of Paphos Airport, including British Airways, Finnair, Ryanair and more, to various destinations around the world.

Getting Around

The airport is situated approximately 16 kilometres east of Paphos city centre. The preferred modes of transport are airport shuttles and taxis. Apart from these, travellers can also rent a car from automobile rental companies at the airport.

Within Paphos, visitors can get around on various forms of transport. Commute on public transport and take the bus services. Travelling by bus may be slightly less convenient; however, they are typically reliable and budget-friendly. For greater accessibility to all parts of Paphos, rent a car. Getting around by motorcycle is another option, which is comparatively less expensive than renting a car. What to See and Do

Paphos is a city with an interesting past. Begin your exploration at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, a stunning landmark featuring ancient ruins and incredible mosaics. Discover the intriguing Greek history behind the mosaics as you walk about. View ancient monuments from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, including the Asklipieion, the Odeion, the Agora, the Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) Fortress, the “Limeniotissa” ruins of early Christian Basilica, and the “Tombs of the Kings”. This historic site is definitely a must-visit when in Paphos.

Another landmark not to be missed is the Ayios Neophytos Monastery, founded by Cypriot writer Neophytos in 1159. The monastery, carved out of the mountain rock, contains captivating frescoes dating back to the Byzantine Empire. Presently, a few monks reside in the monastery, which is furnished with a museum featuring numerous religious artefacts such as manuscripts, maps, antiquated books, priestly garments, jewellery and a collection of Cypriot pottery. If you are in Paphos in January, catch the two-day religious fair where Cypriot crafts, art pieces and monastic goods are for sale.
