Soma Bay ist a very natural and luxury alternative to the more touristy beach destination Hurghada. It is a peninsula and features 5 hotels in the 4-5 star category (La Résidence des Cascades for golfers, Kempinski&Sheraton for high-level holidaymakers, Robinson Club for families and a water sports lodge called The Breakers for sports people who like to chill in a very cool way. The most special thing in Soma Bay is its natural surroundings, you can really feel the elements here - wind, desert, sea. I came here totally burned-out and there you are, the sun is shining and you breathe a very healthy sea breeze. This comes from the salt walter which is highly concentrated and excellent for wellness therapies... Soma Bay has a great SPA, Les Thermes des Marins, which honours those natural features and offers great Thalasso treatments. There has been a hype about the golf course in Soma Bay, because it is designed by Gary Player and combines the best of a links and desert course as the golf magazines write. I am only at the beginning of my golf career but have been practicing there and the view over the desert and the sea there is worth it alone! If you go down to the bay, you see an ultracool kite and windsurfing crowd hanging out around the kite house. Apparently, Soma Bay is very special for those kind of sports as the sea level is in a way adjusted to the beach which gives the whole surfing a feeling as if you slide on polished marble, as the manager of the Kitehouse explained to us. There is also a house reef which has been awarded by divers as one of the best in the world (notwithstanding that the Red Sea is famous for its underwaterworld anyway). Soma Bay is very high-level and cosy and one of my favorites in Egypt and the world! have fun there! www.somabay.com
