Anacortes is a beautiful place, mostly known forthe Washington State Ferries dock that goes to Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

Skip the hassle and expense that is traveling to the San Juan islands and instead drive the 90 minutes to this charming fishing village. Take in a sunset orca watching cruise with Island Adventures Whale Watching, which will take you to the best parts of the islands, then leave you happily on solid land.

Lovely little town of Seattle. The shopping area for groceries etc for anyone spending time on the Islands. There are ferry service to the Guemes Island from here many little shops although the prices are higher than in the city. The people are very friendly and there are a few things to do. A museum water sport, a few parks a Casino and quite a lot of nice eateries.

If I'm spending time in the State of Washington, Anacortes is my city of choice to be in. It's a small town in the San Juan Islands, a little more than an hour away from Seattle. If you have the traveling ability to get here, you'll be glad you did. Apparently, it's in the Banana Belt, so if there's any sunshine to be found in the Northwest, you know you can find it here. Being a city girl, I'm always surprised by the trendy & interesting restaurants and bars popping up here. I haven't had the opportunity to be in town for it yet... but I hear the Oyster Run in September is a sight to see!
