Malaysia, one of the most under-rated Asian tourism gems, offers every traveller a soul-satiating experience. Whether it is the country’s cultural diversity, alluring wilderness or stunning urban advances that impress you the most, you will leave the country totally agreeing with its slogan – Malaysia, truly Asia. To ensure that you enjoy every bit of variety Malaysia has to offer, include these delightful places to visit in your plans.
1. Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur
These spectacular buildings are not just the pride of Kuala Lumpur but the whole of Malaysia. The tallest twin skyscrapers in the world, Petronas Towers, are a must visit when in the capital city. If you feel the towers look mesmerising during the day, wait till they get illuminated at night. Walking on the Skybridge soaking in the bird’s eye views of Kuala Lumpur from the observation deck is a must. However, since this place is a tourist magnet, be prepared to stand in queues for entry. Book your tickets online to shorten your wait times.
Tip: Plan your trip during early evening so you get a chance to view the towers and the city both in sunlight and illuminated after sunset.

2. Taman Negara National Park
If adrenaline-pumping activities and wild expanses rank high on the list of your vacation needs, a trip to Taman Negara National Park is mandatory. Trilling outdoor activities such as jungle trekking, canopy walking, rapid shooting and cave exploration, and calmer ones such as bird watching, fishing, boating and animal spotting all await you here. If you have always been keen about unique civilisation and remote settlements, you have to visit Kampung Orang Asli (aborigine settlement), where you will see how these people live in their secluded world without any modernisation.
Tip: Taman Negara National Park is easily accessible from four main points – Kuala Lumpur, Jerantut, Kuala Tahan and Sg Relau.

With its sugary beaches, bright green waters and loads of secluded spaces, this tropical archipelago of around 100 islands has romance written all over it. On your list of ‘to-do’ things in Langkawi must be the 125-meter-long Langkawi Sky Bridge – a curved bridge that will blow your mind with the stunning views of waterfalls, forests and islands it offers. Kids will particularly enjoy visiting Underwater World Langkawi where rare and varied sea creatures wait to meet them. Those craving some snorkeling and diving adventures can plan a trip to the pristine Pulau Payar Marine Park and those seeking complete relaxation can head straight to the clean, calm and comforting Tanjung Rhu Beach.
Tip: Make sure you visit the Langkawi Night Market where you can shop some low-cost knick-knacks and gorge on some scrumptious local Malaysian street food.
