Perth Airport is a modern user-friendly airport that is also currently expanding to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s passengers. The airport is located 9km from the city. There are two terminals at the airport, one for domestic flights and one for international flights. Each terminal is located on either side of the runway with a free shuttle bus supplied to take people to the terminal that they need to be at. The airport boasts flights to all other major Australian cities as well as international flights to as far afield as Johannesburg, Auckland, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Guangzhou, Doha and Manila.
What to See & Do
Perth is located between the Indian Ocean and the sands of the Nullarbour Desert and is centred along the banks of the Swan River. It is the capital of the State of Western Australia, and has a population of over 1 million. English is the main language spoken here. The city itself is a friendly modern cosmopolitan city that boasts a great nightlife, restaurant scene and public parks and gardens. Stunningly beautiful and isolated beaches can be found all along the coastline out of Perth and areas for such activities like swimming, surfing and snorkelling are not in short supply.
Why not start your Perth adventure with a stroll around the hugely popular Kings Park & Botanic Gardens, where you’ll find hundreds of hectares of natural and unique bush land, tranquil parkland and the exotic and also unique Botanical Gardens. The Kings Park and Botanic Gardens are found along the banks of the Swan River and can be easily accessed by bus from anywhere in the city. If you've still got the energy for it after Kings Park, why not take a trip to the Fraser Avenue Lookout and see what’s probably the best lookout point in Perth. The Swan River is Perth’s best friend, providing opportunities to sail, jet ski and fish.
Getting Around
There are no public buses from the international terminal at the airport. But visitors can catch a free shuttle bus to T3&T4 (Domestic Terminals) for a public bus service to the city, which costs around $4. Although buses are by far the cheapest option of getting to and from the airport, taxis and commercial shuttle buses also run from all terminals. The average price of a taxi into the city is around $40 and shuttle bus may cost you $15.
Perth can be a lovely city to explore on foot or by bicycle; the city prides itself on being bike friendly and has excellent paths for both bicycles and walkers. Perth has a reliable public bus service in place and there are also large air-conditioned buses of different colours and a Cat logo, that run on various routes around all the major facilities and attractions. The suburban railway network is great for quickly getting to and from the suburbs and as far south as the lovely little quaint town of Mandurah.
