 Ibiza Airport

Also known as Aeropuerto de Ibiza in Spanish, Ibiza Airport serves as the main gateway for its own island as well as that of tranquil Formentera, all within the Spanish Balearic Islands sitting on the Mediterranean Sea. The vast majority of passengers flying in and out of Ibiza Airport are made up mainly of tourists, seeking a paradisiacal getaway in both islands. Ibiza Airport sits 7km shy of its city centre, and sees an exponential peak in passenger traffic during the warmer seasonal months. During its early days, the airport functioned under military control especially during the period of the Spanish Civil War, but re-opened as a commercial airport in 1958 to welcome visitors from all around the world into its beautiful islands. Over the years, Ibiza Airport has also undergone major upgrades and expansions to better facilitate increasing passenger traffic.

Terminals

Comprising one main passenger terminal, Ibiza Airport handles flights from both domestic locations as well as international destinations. Some of the more prominent airlines that have included Ibiza Airport as part of its extensive flight routes all year round include Air Nostrum (Iberia Regional), British Airways, Ryanair and Air Berlin. However, Ibiza Airport also connects with other major destinations based on a seasonal basis, such as Prague, Milan, Moscow and Dublin. Check-in counters may be located on the ground floor of the terminal, but certain airlines also offer web check-in options which will only require passengers to drop off their baggage at the counters.

Services and Facilities

At the airport, passengers can also locate a myriad of amenities meant to cater to their comfort and convenience. These include but are not limited to selected dining options offering a light snack to ease your hunger pangs, coffee, Duty Free selections which will allow you to enjoy the best discounts available, and retail stores in case you left something back home. Also, other general amenities are offered, such as medical services and a pharmacy, ATM machines and banking facilities, currency exchange services, baggage wrapping services, conference rooms, Internet points, police post, postage services, as well as complimentary WiFi access for up to 15 minutes.

Should you require additional help, do not hesitate to approach the information counters located on the ground floor as well.

Airport or nearby transit hotels

Within the airport’s vicinity, passengers can expect to find a handful of villas which will serve as perfect lodging selections for a layover at Ibiza Airport. Some of these villas, such as the Luxury Villa en Km 5, provide airport transfers too, making them a convenient choice instead of camping out on the airport’s grounds. Although not quite near the city centre, passengers will still find themselves feeling right at home near the airport with the personal touches these nearby accommodation have to offer. Travelling a little further down, passengers will also chance upon the Grand Palladium Palace Ibiza Resort and Spa, an all-encompassing one stop destination for anyone looking to experience the true taste of Ibiza. Equipped with four freshwater pools, hydro-massage bath facilities in each room, and four restaurants offering gastronomical indulgence from all around the world, visitors just have to travel 4km from the airport into this paradise.
