A world famous city, Venice is a city in northeastern Italy located on a group of 118 small islands that are naturally separated by canals and linked by manmade bridges. All the flights headed for Venice land at the Marco Polo International Airport, or Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo which is the major international airport serving Venice. Treviso Airport in Treviso, 30 km from Venice is also a major airport and some of the flights land here. The climate of Venice can be classified as humid subtropical climate featuring cool winters and very warm summers. The city remains wet for most part of the year. January is the closest month of the year while July and August is the warmest. The months from September to November and from March to May are best for planning trip to Venice. Carnevale in February, Biennale for Art from June to November and Festa del Redentore in July are the major festivals held in Venice and huge number of international tourists come to Venice to attend these festivals.

Venice is extremely popular for its variety of seafood which can be best savored at the stalls of the Rialto and Chioggia markets. While sea food is major component of Venetian cuisine, fresh garden products are also used commonly. Sarde in saor, Risi e bisi, Fegato alla veneziana, Risotto with Cuttlefish, Cicchetti, Antipasti, Prosecco, Bisàto, baicoli, Pan del pescatore, Fregolotta, Crostoli, Rosada and Zaléti are some the dishes indigenous to Venice and tourists should not miss enjoying them.
