Ghana’s capital and largest city, Accra is stretches on Ghanaian Atlantic coast and serves as the economic and administrative hub of the country. The Portuguese gained control over Accra in 17th century followed by Swedish, French and British. The city became the capital of Republic of Ghana in 1877. The remaining months are comparatively drier and the month of July, August, November, December, January, February and March are good months for tourism. Though tourist in Accra can enjoy variety of cuisines in multiple restaurants, one should not miss tasting the local food. The local cuisine of Accra comprises cassava, millet, maize, yam and plantain. Beans are used as a staple food and rice is also used in some form in majority of dishes.
