Spreading on an area of 136.0 km2, it is located at an elevation of 183 meters above sea level and houses more than 261,310 residents. The Niagara Falls, which are locates round 37 km from Buffalo city is the most important tourist attraction. Darwin D Martin House is the best of Wright's Prairie House era designs and a major attraction in Buffalo. Shea's Performing Arts Center is a perfect stop for art lovers. Displaying a classic style of architecture with a Neo-Spanish Baroque interior, it is listed as a National Historic Landmark. Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is another major tourist spot in Buffalo and this Victorian-style gardens of plants includes and orchid house, bromeliad house, herb collection, and waterfall. A beautiful attraction, Forest Lawn Cemetery has attractions like water features, trees, and paths and also serves as the final resting place of many famous people.

A potpourri of culture, the local food served in Buffalo reflects varieties of influences like Italian, Greek, African, India and American. Ranging from high end hotels to budget eateries, everything is available in the city. Ted's Hot Dogs, SPoT Coffee, Tim Hortons, and Mighty Taco are some of the many fast food chain giants which have their outlets all across the city. The city is also very popular for its old Buffalo style meals that can be found in restaurant like Louie's Hot Dogs, La Nova Pizzeria, John and Mary's Submarines, Just Pizza and Duff's Famous Wings. Pearl Street Brewery and Flying Bison Brewing Company have their base at Buffalo and are known for their wines. Sahlen's which is a charcoal-broiled hot dog, Buffalo wing, haddock fish fries, Beef on weck sandwich, pierogi and loganberry-flavored beverage are some of the dishes indigenous to the city and should be tasted when in Buffalo.
