Discover Ibiza
Ibiza is one of the biggest islands in the Balearic archipelago. This is a famous destination for party-goers with its vibrant nightlife and exclusive clubs. Other than dancing the night away on this island, there are various other attractions that visitors can indulge in on this party island.
What to see and do
Other than club-hopping and attending foam parties, hike up the highest mountain in Ibiza. The entire hiking distance is around 4 km and it can take roughly 2 hours to get to the top. The hike involves exploring the medieval churches of Sant Jordi de ses Salines and Sa Revista, both built in the 17th and 18th century. If you don’t feel like hiking, just stroll down the coast towards the hills and see where you end up. Do participate in the Ibizan folk dance called ‘Ball Payes’ while passing through the village of Sant Josep de se Talaia.
If you have the time, visit the old city of Dalt Vila in Ibiza. It has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend the day exploring the narrow cobbled streets and be awed by majestically-preserved cathedrals, museums and convents lining the streets.
Watch impressive sunsets from Café del Mar, a bar located in Sant Antoni de Portamy. This bar is well-known throughout the world for its chill-out music compilations by songwriters from all over the globe. Watch the sun setting into the horizon of the Mediterranean Ocean while sipping cocktails. The simplicity of the venue, the perfect combination of scenery, beautiful weather and amazing music make this place a must-visit for everyone visiting Ibiza.
Visit Sa Pedrera. This beach is full of spectacular hidden treasures with massive rock carvings of faces, dragons and other symbolic carvings made by sculptors and stone masons from many centuries ago. This is a destination for culture vultures wanting to discover all of Ibiza's secrets.
If you have additional money to splurge, hop on a yacht and head to the smaller island of Formentera. The waters around this island are transparent. You can use a pair of goggles and a snorkel to explore the kaleidoscope of colourful fish and marine life at the bottom of the waters. Alternatively, just relax and chill out at one of the beaches at this birthplace of the hippie movement.
How to get around within the city
Ibiza is a small island but getting around the island can be a nightmare especially if you are visiting it for the first time. Hiring a car is the best way to explore Ibiza because it provides the most freedom and comfort for travel. Younger tourists might want to rent scooters. Take advantage of the Disco Bus service which provides a safe and regular way to and from the major towns.
How to get there
Ibiza Airport is the most popular airport serving the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera in Spain.
