Discover Warsaw Chopin

Sitting 10km shy of the city centre, Warsaw Chopin Airport was christened after famous local composer Frederic Chopin and serves as the main gateway of its city in Poland. It enjoys the highest rates of passenger traffic within the country and connects with popular destinations around the world, such as London, Chicago and Paris. Previously known as Okecie International Airport, the airport is still recognised by many by this past identification. First opened in 1934 by Polish President Ignacy Moscicki, the airport has experienced much turbulence given that it was subjected to many attacks and almost completely demolished by the Germans during the Second World War. However, its survival sparked a string of upgrades and additions of new facilities such as concrete runways and a new terminal and towers.

All operations are located in Terminal A, the main passenger terminal segregated further into two halls. The airport houses a myriad of both local and foreign carriers, including multiple members of both Star Alliance and Oneworld associations. The LOT Polish Airline, in particular, is the leading flag carrier of Poland and has its bases set up right at Warsaw Chopin Airport. Within the airport premises, passengers will be able to find numerous amenities which are installed for their personal comfort and convenience such as retail and dining options, banking facilities, a post office, kids’ facilities, ATM machines, a chapel, WiFi access and premium lounges. A transit hotel maintained by The Courtyard by Marriot is also easily located within the airport’s vicinity for those looking for a place to rest while on a layover.
