Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT S.A, which operates under the trademark LOT Polish Airlines is a flag carrier of Poland and the headquarters is in Warsaw. LOT operates a complex network to 60 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia. Most of the destinations are served from its hub, Warsaw Chopin Airport. The main hub of the airline is Warsaw Chopin Airport. The airline is a member of Star Alliance since 2003. Miles & More is the frequent flyer programme of the airline.

History

The airlines was founded 1929 and is one of the oldest operational airline in the world. The airline was established by Polish government as a state-owned self-governing corporation after taking over existing domestic lines Aero and Aerolot. Operations started on 2 January and the first international service began on 2 August 1929 to Vienna. The airline was initially a soviet controlled carrier which changed in 1989 when it became an European flag carrier and new western aircrafts were added to replace the old soviet models. Currently, the Polish government owns 68% of shares in LOT while Regionalny Fundusz Gospodarczy S.A. owns 25% and employees own 6.93% of airline’s shares.

Fleet

Currently the airline has a fleet of 35 aircrafts with an average age of 5.6 years. The fleet includes 3 Boeing 727-800, 6 Boeing 787-8, 7 Embraer E-170, 12 Embraer E-175 and 6 Embraer E-195. Order of 2 Boeing 787-8 has been placed by the airline.
