Cathay Pacific Flights

Winning the top spot at the 2014 World Airline Awards for the fourth time now, the Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific received high marks from Skytrax for in-flight entertainment and cabin crew. Cathay Pacific currently has scheduled passenger and cargo services to as many as 168 destinations in 42 countries worldwide, making it the world's third largest airline, measured in terms of market capitalisation. Cathay Pacific is also a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, setting the benchmark high for the alliance as well as the other airlines that joined later. The word ‘Cathay’ came from the ancient name of China, Khitan, and Pacific was a hope that the founders clung on to for the airline to fly over the Pacific Ocean one day - which it did. Cathay Pacific has also diversified into related industries and sectors, including ground handling, aviation engineering and inflight catering.

Why Fly with Cathay Pacific Flights?

How to Check in

Other than the traditional airport check-in onto a Cathay Pacific flight, you will also be able to check in via its website, mobile application and also self-service kiosks. By checking in via those alternative methods, you will be able to save time by joining a separate queue for baggage collection, or even proceed directly to immigration with your printed boarding passes or mobile boarding passes respectively if you do not have any luggage to check in!

Baggage Fees and Allowances

Do note that the weight of any single piece of checked baggage should not be over 32kg, and carry on baggage allowance ranges from 7kg to 15kg depending on the class of seats you've booked.

Cabin interiors and in-flight entertainment have been replaced since June 2011, and these planes have 4 different seat classes that you can choose from. First-class seats can be converted into flat beds with a massage function, a personal closet, and adjustable personal televisions. Business class seats come close with much personal space and privacy. Those who do not wish to indulge in Business class seating can opt for the Premium Economy class seats, where the seat pitch will be 38 inches – six inches more than Economy Class and have a bigger recline.

Inflight Entertainment

Its award-winning entertainment system is available for all passengers, offering up to 100 movies, 350 TV programmes, 888 CD albums in 24 different genres, 22 radio channels and more than 70 interactive games. Portable electronic devices may be used on board after take-off to cater to highly connected individuals and you need not worry about the lack of power with the seats' power point.

Food and beverages are complimentary for all long-haul passengers, with two hot meals generally served on each flight even in economy, and with free alcoholic beverages. Also, shop onboard the Cathay Pacific duty-free shop, which provides home delivery services if you do not wish to collect your purchase straightaway!
