The history of Beijing goes back three millennia and the city also served as the last of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty are two of the many dynasties which ruled here. Beijing dialect of the Mandarin version of spoken Chinese is spoken by the people. English is also spoken widely.
