Located at a distance of 13 km from the city center, the airport is currently directly connected to several European cities and leisure destinations across the world. The city has oceanic type of climate which is characterized by warm to hot summer and chilling to snowy winters. The winter season last from December to March and the temperature averages around 0 °C. The summer season in Stuttgart stretches from May till September and average temperature does not exceed 20 °C. While January is the coldest month of the year, July and August are the hottest. The months from May to September are the peak tourist months as the weather is bright and pleasant and perfect for sightseeing. Due to freezing temperatures, winter months should be avoided. During the rest of the year the city received regular spells of rainfall but you can visit if you are on a budget as the price of hotel is comparatively cheaper. Spring festival in April, Summer Festival in August, Lantern Festival in July, Wine Village in September, Cannstatter Volksfestin Octiber and Volksfest are the major international events and festivals celebrated in Stuttgart.

City Attractions

The location of the city between fragrant orchards and forest covered hills is an attraction in itself.  Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is the major attraction in the city. It is a museum famed for housing the finest art collections in Germany. The Mercedes-Benz Museum is a unique automobile museum where more than 160 vehicles are on display. The Porsche Museum is another major attractions located nearby. Having ac luster of historical monuments, the Schlossplatz is the major city center and a popular shopping area as well. Neues Schloss and Altes Schloss are heritage palaces with charming architecture and are presently used by government. Sepulchral Chapel on Württemberg Hill, the burial chapel of Queen Katharina, offers the most spectacular views of the city.

Wilhelma Zoological and Botanic Garden (home to varieties of animals and plant species), Schloss Solitude (a spectacular palace containing many fine state apartments), Killesberg Park and Tower (a beautiful open air space reserved for major events), Königstrasse and the Hauptbahnhof, Weissenhof Estate, Stiftskirche, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Schillerplatz and the Old Town, The Carl Zeiss Planetarium,  Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History and Stuttgart's Outer Districts are important tourist places in Stuttgart. The city is equally illustrious for its spas as it is for its heritage. Bad Cannstatt in the northeastern suburbs and Das Leuze are the two most sought after places where you can indulge in spas and health-inducing mineral waters.

Eating and Shopping

Multiple options are available for foodies in Stuttgart. While Stuttgart's Swabian cuisine is the most popular cuisine, many restaurants serving international cuisine are also available. If you are a vegetarian, then please note the smaller restaurants in Stuttgart often don't have much for vegetarians. Meat is the major part of people's diet and hence dishes incorporating meat is widely consumed. When in Stuttgart, do miss savoring Kartoffelsuppe, Dampfnudeln, Black Forest Ham, Bauernbrot, Hefezopf, Liverwurst, Rote, Springerle and Blechkuchen. Riesling Wine and Spätburgunder Red Wine are the most popular beverages in Stuttgart. Brezel which is a popular fast food dish is commonly found everywhere. The city is also known for its Döner stands along with specialized Asian, Italian and sea food restaurants.

Königstraße is the major shopping district in Stuttgart and numerous shops are located here. The city also has a significant number of big shopping malls, departmental stores along with luxury boutiques and branded outlets. Milaneo , Galeria Kaufhof, Breuninger, Karstadt, Königsbaupassagen and Das Gerber are the manjor shopping malls in the city. When in Stuttgart, you cannot afford to miss visiting the Marktplatz am Rathau, Wilhelmsplatz, Markthalle and Bauernmarkthalle, which are the attractive local food markets selling varieties of things. Stuttgart is very famous for its trade fairs and CMT in January and Süddeutsche Spielmesse and Modellbau Süd in November are the most popular ones.
