Discover Vancouver International

Vancouver International Airport is the second busiest airport in Canada, and is now experiencing a greater influx of visitors owing to the success of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Today, more than 60 carriers serve the airport, connecting travellers to almost 100 destinations in Canada, the United States, and cities worldwide.

Getting Around

The city centre is approximately 12 kilometres from the airport. Several modes of transport take travellers from the airport to downtown Vancouver. Board the Canada Line rapid rail, located on Level 4 of the main terminal building. Otherwise, board the TransLink Bus, a bus service that transports passengers to Burrard Station in the city. Another alternative would be hailing a taxi that takes you directly to the city centre. Renting a car is also possible to get from the airport to downtown Vancouver.

It is easy to get around Vancouver with multiple transport options available. The extensive TransLink Bus network takes passengers to various destinations in the city. Besides buses, train services such as the SkyTrain and West Coast Express move travellers from downtown to the outer suburban areas. To get to the islands across the sea, take the SeaBus and AquaBus services. With such a comprehensive public transport system, travelling around is easy. If all else fails, simply hop into a taxi to reach your desired destinations.

What to See and Do

Vancouver is an ethnically diverse city with a blend of different cultures, and a mix of nature’s beauty and manmade attractions. Surrounded by water, the city boasts a beautiful downtown skyline, complete with a stunning backdrop of the North Shore Mountains.

For a snowy adventure, head north to Cypress, Grouse or Seymour. These beautiful mountains are only a short half-hour drive from downtown – extremely accessible! The stunning snow-laden terrains are perfect for alpine sports, including skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. Zip down the pistes while enjoying the superb view. Embark on an 850-metre climb up the Grouse Mountain Grind, locally referred to as ‘Mother Nature’s Stairmaster’. Challenge your limits as you scale large, seemingly endless wooden steps to the peak. Another way to ascend is by Skyride, a huge airborne gondola that effortlessly takes you to the summit.

Traverse Stanley Park, the city’s largest park. The park is a green oasis in Vancouver’s largely urban landscape, and is considered one of Canada’s historic sites. Walk through the 400-hectare rainforest, all the way to the Vancouver Seawall. If you’re too tired to walk, ride on a horse-drawn carriage instead. Along the way, marvel at the impressive 9-kilometre waterfront, trek down forest trails, and soak in the amazing scenery that will take your breath away.

Change into your beachwear and get ready for a day of suntanning at Kits Beach. Play typical beach sports like volleyball or simply chill out at the bars in the area. Lounge on the soft sand with a pina colada in your hand and a book in the other.

Enjoy Vancouver, the city where nature meets the urban. Whether you choose to ski or suntan, Vancouver has it all in one place. Book your flight here now!
