One of the most popular shopping destination in Agra, Sadar Bazaar is located very close to the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal. Transport in Agra

The best way to explore Agra is the green and yellow coloured autorickshaws. The fares are usually minimal and trips under a distance of 3 km shouldn’t cost you more than INR 50 / USD 1 approx. Electric buses, electric tempos and tongas are also available. Uttar Pradesh tourism department conducts a half-day and full-day tour to the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri (fares start at INR 350 / USD 6 approx.). Also, there are taxis available to take you around the city.

There is so much more to do and see in Agra than just the magnificent Taj Mahal; elaborate tombs, awe-inspiring monuments, decorative mausoleums and more. The must-visit places in Agra are the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, Ram Bagh, Tomb of Akbar the Great and Fatehpur Sikri. Attend the Taj Mahatsova, a 10-day festival of art and culture. It is held every year on the month of February to March at Shilpgram. Lastly, experience the city’s culture, craft, cuisine, and life of the local people.

Food in Agra

The Mughals made Agra the capital of India in the 16th century. As a result, the cuisine of Agra has imprints of the Mughal Empire. A lot of ground spices, creamy, dried fruits and nuts are some of the trademarks of the cuisine in this city. The typical breakfast usually consists of Bedai and Jalebi (fried bread served with a bowl of spicy green curry). Chaat (savoury snacks), Petha (a type of sweet candy) and Dalmoth (savoury dry snack) are also very popular here.
