Overview

The city is currently served by two airports - Pittsburgh International Airport and Arnold Palmer Regional Airport and all flights for Pittsburg land at either of the airport. Pittsburgh International Airport is the major one among the two and is located at a distance of 30 km from the city. Currently 15 airlines operate flights to and from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Pittsburgh experiences humid continental climate which is characterized by cold winters, moderate summer and short spells of spring and fall season. Winters in Pittsburgh are very cold and often snowy while during the summer the average temperature reaches 32 °C. July is the warmest and January is the coldest month of the year. The month from June to October and March to May are the best time to plan a visit to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest in June, Trinity Greek Festival in September, Pittsburgh International Children's Festival and Pittsburgh Folk Festival in May and New Year are the most celebrates festivals in Pittsburgh.

City Attractions

A perfect amalgam of the old and new, Pittsburgh is a wonderful tourist destination. Phipps Conservatory is an old botanical garden featuring 13-room Victorian glasshouse, a butterfly and bird garden, a color wheel garden and a sensory garden. Carnegie Museum of Art is a perfect stopover for the art aficionados as this museum houses extensive collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings from over past two centuries along with various sculptures and decorative art. It uses two original 1877 cable cars that take tourists to the top from where scenic views of the city can be enjoyed. A small museum showcasing the history of the incline is also located on the top. Schenley Park, Frick Park, Highland Park, Riverview Park and Grand View Scenic Byway Park are the largest city parks in Pittsburg.
