Aurangabad Airport (also known as Chikkalthana Airport) is a public airport located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. There is only 1 gate for the domestic and international terminals, for domestic flights to/from Mumbai and Delhi and the yearly international flight to Haj for the pilgrimage. Therefore, for domestic travel, it is best to first fly to either Mumbai or Delhi and then take a connecting flight to Aurangabad. Otherwise, those who live around Aurangabad can take the intercity bus or train into the city. The airport serves about 700 passengers on a daily basis, which is close to the full capacity of the airport. Various snack bars and shops are available at the airport for a quick bite before leaving the airport. Aurangabad (meaning "Built by the Throne") is named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It is an imitation of the Taj Mahal at Agra and due to its similar design, it is popularly known as the "Taj of the Deccan".
