Vistara, officially known as Tata SIA Airlines Limited, is an Indian domestic airline based in Gurgaon, Delhi with its hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Indian carrier is a joint venture between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Tata Sons (TATA) and unveiled its brand identity ‘Vistara’ on August 11th, 2014. The name Vistara was derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Vistaar’, which literally means ‘limitless expanse’. Vistara commenced its operations on January 9th, 2015.
Vistara also had the honour of becoming the very first carrier to operate services out of the swanky international terminal T2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai. Vistara was also the very first airline to introduce the concept of ‘premium economy’ seats on the domestic routes within India.
Vistara has a total fleet size of 14, with 13 Airbus A320-200s and 1 Airbus A320neo, both of which can carry 158 passengers each. The Airbus A320neo is a new addition to the fleet, having been delivered in late May 2017.
Vistara’s Domestic Destinations:
Vistara flies to 20 destinations within India – Port Blair, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Delhi, Dabolim, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Bangalore, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kolkata, and Siliguri.
Vistara also has interline agreements with the following airlines – Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, KLM, Kenya Airways, Japan Airlines, Finnair, British Airways, All Nippon Airways and Air France.
Since it’s a full-service carrier, Vistara has 8 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats and 126 economy seats. The business class configuration is 2-2 with 20-inches seats, and the premium economy has four rows in a 3-3 config with 18-inch-wide seats. Economy class also has a 3-3 configuration.
Travellers flying with Vistara on domestic routes will need to have some form of original identification.
Vistara doesn’t have in-flight entertainment, but the airline began beaming content directly to passengers' personal devices through one-way Wi-Fi.
Vistara has 4 meals for each cabin – breakfast, refreshment, lunch and dinner – with options of 1 veg-1 non-veg dish in economy, 1 veg-1 non-veg in premium economy, and 2 veg-2 non-veg dishes in business class. Order special meals about 24 hours in advance.

How to Check-in
Passengers can check-in online and at the airport. Passengers can do web and mobile check-in both 48 hours before departure. Go to Vistara website or download the Vistara Mobile App (compatible with Windows, Android and iOS phones) and check-in using the booking reference number and last name, or the e-ticket number. Web check-in will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure time.
Baggage Allowances and Fees
Cabin baggage shouldn’t exceed 7kg and 22x16x8 inches in dimensions. Items allowed to be carried apart from cabin baggage are handbag, wrap/overcoat, blanket/rug, binoculars/camera, reading material, baby food, walking stick, umbrella, medicines and laptop. Check-in baggage allowed are 30kg (business class), 20kg (premium economy), and 15kg (economy).
Vistara allows passengers in all cabin classes to select seats during booking. However, some rows such as emergency exit rows etc. might not be available.
If one is booking from the Vistara website, then passenger service fees of Rs. 300 are charged per booking. Also, there are taxes charged atop the base fare.
