Ciao! Welcome to the largest airport in Italy, the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport. Serving almost 40 million passengers yearly, it is one of the busiest airports in Europe. The airport is named after famous Italian Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci. Built only in the 1960s to replace the smaller airports, it helped to relieve air traffic congestion in the area as well as increase traffic into Italy. There are currently 4 terminals in Fiumicino Airport, Terminal 1, 2, 3 and 5. All the terminals have a good mix of shopping and dining options to enjoy upon your arrival.

Rome airport is about 15km from the city centre. You can take the Leonardo Express non-stop train to the city centre. Otherwise, the FL1 rail line regional trains also operate to the city centre as well as other cities. Alternatively, take a bus for a nice sightseeing tour to the city from the airport. Various buses go to different parts of the city and it would be a great idea to travel around Rome by bus as there is a photo opportunity hidden at every corner and a bus ride will give you ample photo opportunities. What to see and do

Rome, often referred to as "The Eternal City", is one of the oldest continuously occupied cities in Europe. Vatican City and the Colosseum are among the world's most visited tourist destinations with millions of tourists a year. Visit the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican Museum and gaze at its ceiling where Michelangelo’s masterpiece lies. In the heart of the Vatican is St Peter’s Basilica, constructed by Emperor Constantine. The Colosseum was the centre of ancient Roman entertainment and the site where gladiators used to fight to their death.

The architecture in Rome is one of the most diverse and interesting with styles ranging from the Medieval to the Neoclassical. The Pantheon, Castel Sant'Angelo, Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura, Piazza del Campidoglio, and Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II all differ in their architectural history and are well worth a visit.

Other than architecture, Rome contains a vast and impressive collection of art, sculpture, fountains, mosaics, frescos and paintings, from different periods. The National Gallery of Modern Art has works by Balla, Morandi, Pirandello, Carrà and De Chirico. Rome is also widely recognised as a fashion capital. Major luxury fashion houses and jewellery chains have their origins in the city and most of their boutiques are located in Piazza di Spagna.

Don’t forget to visit the Spanish steps and the Trevi Fountain. Toss a coin in the fountain – and you may just return to the city a second a time!
