Uniquely beautiful

As a big fan of the Winzerkönig series, staying overnight at the "Gasthaus Stickler" was a dream come true for me. I immediately had the feeling that Harald Krassnitzer was just around the corner! :)
We stayed there for one night and we really liked it - the location is simply unique and everything is lovingly decorated. (We only found the lack of black-out options in the bedroom a bit annoying.) The view from the room of the main square and the numerous well-occupied stork nests made our hearts so happy.
When we came to breakfast the next morning, we couldn't believe our eyes - a huge table with regional delicacies had been laid out just for us with great attention to detail. All the staff were extremely nice and the cleaning lady came running after us when we left because she thought we had forgotten the money we had left in the room for her.
If I ever come back to this area, I would stay here again at any time and can highly recommend this hotel.

Sleeping is ok and excellent breakfast (one rating level more)

Located at market square. And the square is lovely. We took apartament with 2 sleeping rooms and small kitchen. The apartament could be a bit modern, but is ok. It is a bit noisy as there is a fountain outside.
The keys must be collacted in other hotel. At the same place you will have a breakfast. And it is serviced fabulous stuff-home made fresh fruit drinks, local chees and ham, fruits (it is semi meditarian climate, so you can expect the best things), home made marmolade,

Great website

We stayed one night but prior to our arrival we were wishing, based on the website, we had more time. As it turned out one night was enough.
The hotel is in two or three separate buildings and although you are shown that one is 4 stars and the other is 3 it is not apparent that there is much difference.
The beautiful continuity of the website and its images over promises.
The Rusterhof rooms are above a restaurant with an entrance through a courtyard to the back of the restaurant where you pass the kitchen and some storage or equipment sheds. There a door leads to a stairway and corridor beside the kitchen so any noise or smells fill the stairwell. The stairs are modestly elegant but motion sensor lighting takes a long time to kick in so much of the time you are navigating in the dark.
The courtyard that you pass through contains a number of tables and chairs that I realized upon reviewing the website was photographed when set up for an elegant alfresco party. At the time of our stay it looked more like a storage space.
The room overlooking the picturesque town square was clean but barren and dated with some very poor decorating attempts Such as old looking silk flowers and mirror tile countertop in the tiny kitchenette.
Worse was the bathroom. The bare bulb of the antique "looking" lamp over the sink was right at eye level while the toilet under the sloping roof had to be navigated with care as there was much less that 2 meters headroom. A tiny cabinet shower was blessed with a rain shower head too low to stand under.
The website promises fine dining but on the day we stayed the restaurant was closed. Perhaps given the location of our room this was a good thing.
Breakfast was in the "burgerhaus" which contains the presumably better rooms. Here a certain naive management decision had tables set outdoors in the courtyard in spite of the 17 degree temperature and the damp from overnight rain.
We declined and asked to eat inside in what might be the "elegant" dining room. The room was decorated in a style best described as Alice in wonderland visits an antique store. Tables laden with antique bits and pieces had to be cleared to make room for the breakfast.
Eventually when my vision acclimatized to the clutter I realized that almost every item had a price tag. Breakfast served in an antique store....bizarre.
The only good thing about this experience was the breakfast which was tasty, plentiful and served by very friendly polite staff.
If you are thinking of staying here be aware that the real thing is not nearly as charming as the website. This is not to say that the photos are not of the actual hotel, they are just glamorized, artfully set up and shot by a genius level photographer.

Superb cousy place

Gorgeous little village. The hotel was excellent, you are like sent back in time to the middle ages, but with our days comfort. All white rooms, with vintage style decoration, we had an apartment, staying with the kids. Superb set-up, paying attention also to the small details. Bathroom, kitchen, rooms, a five star experience for the price of 3 stars. Breakfast we had in the place next to our, in the Bürgerhaus. All places run by Tina and Michael, interior designers, as well, and I can say, it was one of the gorgeous breakfast we have ever had. The place...like in ferry-tells. For what you eat and drink, they pay very much attention, to have only organic products, only really home made food. It was amazing. And the decoration....the best place if you want to feel a bit outside the World of our days.
