Christmas Magic!

We stayed in a cabin (#17) from December 22 - 27, 2025. Christmas in a log cabin in the mountains was a bucket list item for me. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, especially for a family of 5 and our dog, but I didn't care. I saved and planned for two years and I'm happy to say every second of it was the most memorable, pure Christmas Magic I will ever experience!
While Baker Creek offers log lodge style accommodations if that's your cup of tea, anything less than a privet, traditional log cabin was out of the question for me. Shockingly there are few log cabin options in the Lake Louise and Banff area that are both dog friendly and will accommodate a family of 5 or more in a single cabin. Our cabin, #17, I believe is the only one that has a parking pad; all other guest vehicles must park in parking lot in front of the lodges and office a short walking distance from the cabins. Having read this from a previous review, I specifically booked this cabin one full year ahead of our arrival because I knew we would be bringing Christmas and a weeks’ worth or outdoor activity gear, food and clothing in the back of a fully loaded pickup so I wanted to have close and quick access to the things we could/did not want to bring inside the cabin.
The staff are amazing, friendly and kind folk. We didn’t ask for much during our stay, only requested housekeeping once in 5 days but anything we did ask for they were happy to assist promptly. As a coffee lover, I took full advantage of the unlimited locally roasted Devil’s Head Coffee grounds available in the front office and they kept our firewood box full so we could enjoy the wood burning fire place every moment we were in the cabin. Unsure what if any decorations would be in the cabins over the holidays, we brought Christmas with us but were pleasantly surprised to see a small, 3 ft pre-lit tree in our cabin. We still setup our 7 ft pencil tree but I thought it was a nice touch on their part to include it. On Christmas day we went for a family walk along the river and when we returned, there was a small gift and a really kind card on our table from the Baker Creek staff wishing us a Merry Christmas Thank you! It’s the little things that set this resort and its people apart from others and why I will return.
The cabin was cozy, a one bedroom + loft cabin with stairs. They also offer this cabin with a ladder, but we went with the stairs so our pooch could enjoy it as much as we did. They offer a lot of on-site and complimentary amenities like fat bike, snowshoe and skate rentals, access to groomed cross country skiing trails and a gym and steam room. We actually didn’t utilize any of these amenities, but we sure enjoyed the riverside fire pits at night and a ton of activities and attractions in near-by Lake Lousie and the Town of Banff.
Unfortunately, the milder start to winter in the area meant that the skating rink wasn’t frozen and available during our stay, but it did mean we got to enjoy a 75 year-old record early season snowfall which was a huge part of the magic. It snowed every day, pretty much non-stop! There was so much snow, the weight of it downed dozens of trees on the Bow Valley Parkway, the (very) old TransCanada Highway 1A where Baker Creek is located. It’s an iconic scenic single lane, undivided road stretching from Banff to Lake Louise. Thankfully I had my 4x4 and it was definitely put to use.
I booked this trip hoping to experience that classic Christmas cartoon scenery of a log cabin in the mountains with everything blanketed in pristine white snow and that’s precisely what I got making it worth every single penny and then some! I look forward to returning for a future summer or fall getaway.

Quaint cottages or suites in a magnificent setting. We opened our windows and listened to the river at night. Fire pits located on riverbank with wood provided.

This was a beautiful place to stay. Our cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. Private. Well-equipped. In a beautiful setting. The creek running next to the property was a plus. It was nice to have wood provided for the fire pits. We were also grateful for the free laundry services. Very happy with our stay.

This place was beautiful! The scenery, the cabin, the interior… everything. Having the creek nearby just sets this place apart from all of the places we’ve stayed in the area. I really cannot recommend this place enough. We (family of 4) hope to return soon!

Belle, the receptionist that was there was not friendly at all. Everything else is good. Specially the amenities I just wish they have a strong wifi but I guess that's good to be more close to nature. We had a great time here.
