"Only Option in Town" doesn't mean a Bad Option - Quite the Opposite!

The room was great (I liked the layout of the room, the coffee maker and microwave having their own little area, as weird as that sounds lol), quiet and clean. Parking was easy. There was also a riverside walking path right behind the building, as well as a general store (with some souvenirs too) in front. Check in was a little confusing, but noticed a sign saying to check in at the attached pub, and that was quick and easy. Decent food too. It's (I believe) the only hotel option in Carmacks, but luckily it's a solid choice either way, with everything you could need for an overnight. Would stay again.

This is rural Yukon. This place does the job.

This motel is located in a rural community and is one of a very few choices in a 500km stretch of highway between Whitehorse and Dawson City. So you gotta take a perspective that it’s not going to be Paris-level of comfort. That said, we stayed in the cabins (CAD$140 in August 2025) and had a great night: comfortable bed, quiet surroundings and hot water. The furniture is a bit tired, and no fridge, but you get a good rest and can have a nice walk on the Yukon river in the morning. As others have reported, there is strong sulphur smell from taps and showers if running the water hot, I understand this is because the water comes from the well and local area is rich in minerals. The smell is not pleasant, but on the bright side: highly mineralized water is what they run in expensive spas… my hair and skin looked and felt excellent after washing in this water, hair more shiny than when I stayed at the Ritz in Vienna with expensive conditioners. The lobby bar is the go-to watering hole for locals - drinking goes on through the night, but you don’t hear this in the cabins. The staff members are plesant, hard working and committed to keeping this place running in all weather conditions - well done for offering this stopover option to weary travellers.

Very Nice RV Park

This is a small (14 sites) RV park behind a small hotel. They offer 3 - 50A spots the rest are 30A and 5 of the spots are pull through. The mostly level gravel sites are off gravel access roads. The modern convenient full hookups functioned properly. No cable tv, no OTA stations, but a big enough sky for satellite. Cell service is good, and their included WiFi was better than average - always providing a signal that was useful. The complex has a surprisingly nice grocery store, and a hardware & gift store in the floor underneath. Also included in this area is a restaurant, and a lounge (bar) next to the hotel. There is a nice boardwalk along the river right next to the park.

A solid 7/10.

We stopped here one night. Room is good. Bed comfortable. It was a quiet location and we slept well. TV only has one station available and it is sport.
A bit over priced for what you get - but you don’t have much choice. It did the job.
I’d give it 7/10

Horrible

Avoid this place at all costs. Horrible customer service. Freezing cold rooms. Not worth the 185 dollars a night. Was working in the area and I ended up driving back and fourth between Whitehorse so that I didn’t have to spend another night here.
