Terrible customer service
We had this hotel booked via booking.com for a break away. The day before departure booking.com emailed me to say the hotel had "successfully cancelled our room". In a blind panic i contacted the hotel and was told by Ana that they had no hot/cold water in our room, and that the handy man had refused to fix it in time. There was no apology, or no recommendations on nearby hotels. I was told just to contact booking.com to obtain a refund.
After arriving in split the next morning the hotel called me apparently replying to my enquiry asking where to leave my luggage (which obviously wasn't me). When i explained she had the wrong person as i had been cancelled she laughed down the phone and put the down on me.
Once arriving home i emailed the hotel to express my concerns and i have now been told that all rooms were cancelled due to no air con (different story to what i was told). I was also told that she felt "personally attacked and insulted) which is ironic as i was receiving phone calls from them laughing down the phone at me.
I found the customer services in this situation appalling. Agreed these things happen but a polite phone call to follow up the cancelation would have been nice, and an apology after my email would have been a nice gesture too.
Would never book with them again and would advise others not to

Superb hotel!
The Sperone is a fantastic little hotel located in a nice,quiet area of Split which is only a few minutes walk from the Diocletians Palace.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The room we had was perfectly good and the air conditioning was definitely appreciated considering the temperature was into the 30s!
Breakfast is a generally continental style affair with some hot food provided as well.
It was good but our only comment would be that a variation of pastries & more fresh fruit (prepared rather than whole fruit) would be nice.
The pool is nice and quiet but there are only half a dozen sunbeds so if the hotel is busy it can be difficult to get one.
We would definitely stay again if returning to Split!

Central but quiet boutique hotel
Small very well maintained hotel just minutes from the waterfront and the old town in a quiet alley.
We booked transport from the airport directly with the hotel and were reliably picked up and taken to the nearest small place that was accessible by car. There he was already expecting us a female employee who accompanied us on the three-minute walk through the Altstadtgasse to the hotel.
The staff was always very friendly and devoted.
The rooms were appealing, very clean, sufficiently large with a walk in shower. The photos show the condition of the hotel was quite apt.
Especially for a city tour for a fewer nights in Split, the best choice
